We had the pleasure of completing a full underside restoration on Sam’s beautiful Graphite Edition NC3. This is number 1 of 500 produced so quite a special car and Sam wanted to ensure the underside matched the stunning exterior. As with all our underside packages, we removed the full powertrain from the car, including brake lines and the fuel tank. The underside is then stripped back by removing all the old underseal until we get to bare metal. The chassis then receives multiple coats of Buzzweld chassis protection products, and cavities are also protected at this time.
Sam also addressed his subframes and suspension arms, which were either powder-coated or stripped and painted as required. Whilst the car was with us we performed a selection of upgrades to unlock a bit more spirit from the MX5 including a manifold and remap on our dyno. Sam’s car was then presented back to him with the underside far fresher than when it left the factory. We believe the car may be featured in the MX5OC magazine next year and look forward to that feature.
